Curriculum

Pambula Beach Flexible School offers an inclusive and non-discriminating learning community to young people who, for a variety of reasons, are disenfranchised from mainstream education.

Young People are enrolled are from all genders, a variety of language, cultural, and religious backgrounds – with sensitivity to Indigenous culture – and, at times, are from backgrounds of socio-economic disadvantage. Young People are exposed to learning experiences that develop an understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultural values that constitute Australian society.

Importantly, PBFS young people are encouraged to participate in the decision-making processes that affect the school community, their own lives, and society in which they live. Learning is focused around the individual needs and abilities of young people and progress is carefully documented and monitored. Our students, in conjunction with their Teachers and Youth Workers, draft personalised learning plans with articulated education pathways. Each of our classes function as a small community led by a Teacher and Youth Worker partnership who facilitate learning options and support young person wellbeing and social development.
